SJC News & Events

Temporary Overnight Lane Closure on CR 210 - During the very early morning of September 16th, there will be periodic lane closures on CR 210 just east of I-95. The lane closures will occur only between midnight and 5:00 am, and traffic will still be able to proceed through the area. Questions? Call (904) 209-0126.

Road Closure – San Sebastian View in St. Augustine will be closed for four months as of September 13th. Courthouse complex access will be via Lewis Speedway. Access to the St. Johns County Administrative Offices will be available via the US-1 end of San Sebastian View, south of Lewis Speedway. Questions? Call (904) 209-0124.

Road Closure – Corona Road in Ponte Vedra Beach will be closed to vehicular traffic between Ponte Vedra Boulevard and Rutile Drive for six months beginning September 13th. Pedestrian access available on weekends only. More information.

Budget Public Hearings – The Board of County Commissioners will hold the first public hearing on the FY 2011 budget on Tuesday, September 21st at 5:30 P.M. in the County Auditorium. The second public hearing and final adoption will be on September 29th also at 5:30 pm in the County Auditorium. (Posted:9|9|10)

St. Johns County’s 2010 Tax Notice Help Line – The 2010 Notice of Proposed Taxes will be mailed out beginning September 2nd.  If you have questions about your property’s Market Value, Assessed Value or Tax Exemptions, contact the Property Appraiser at (904) 827-5500. For all other questions call (904) 209-0571 or email budget@sjcfl.us. Please include your name, phone number, and specific property address or parcel identification number and we will respond within one business day. (Posted:8|30|10)

Town Hall Feedback A summary of public feedback from the Town Hall meetings is now posted at www.sjcfl.us/townhall. Also check out a message from the County Administrator, key budget dates and a copy of the presentation.

Free Parenting Class - The Community Resource Center, a division of the Health and Human Services Department, is offering a free 10-week Parent Education Program beginning October 19th. The weekly class will be at the Wind Mitigation Building at the Agricultural Center on Tuesdays from 9:30 to 11:00 am. A certificate will be awarded upon completion. Pets of the Week Videos – GTV has been producing a weekly segment to assist the County Pet Center in introducing our community to adoptable pets. Check out the Pets of the Week video segments which broadcast regularly on GTV or by visiting the Pets of the Week web page.

Rabies Vaccine Clinic – For World Rabies Day, Animal Control and the Health Department will host a Rabies Vaccine Clinic Saturday, September 25th from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon at the Health Department, 1955 US-1 South in St. Augustine. Rabies vaccinations will be available for $7 per animal, and micro-chipping for $20 per animal. Cash or check payments will be accepted. For more info call Animal Control at (904) 209-6190.

Upcoming Cultural Events – October will be busy! Musical acts include WideSpread Panic, Vampire Weekend, Flaming Lips, and Darius Rucker at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre. The 2nd annual Oktoberfest will be October 23rd at the St. Augustine Beach Pier. October 30th a free Night Owl Cinema with a Halloween double feature and a costume contest. Government records may be seen and copied from a records custodian at the County Administration building, via specific County Departments responsible for their own records, from records custodians at Elected Officials Offices and at other levels of government such as state agencies, local, county and state authorities.
